FeedMore WNY aims to increase SNAP participation among older adults

FeedMore WNY is expanding its efforts to assist older adults in applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – formerly known as food stamps. The hunger-relief nonprofit is one of 40 organizations throughout the country to receive a $50,000 grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to enhance access to SNAP for qualifying low-income older adults through community-based outreach and enrollment initiatives.

Area retailers, community members rally to raise funds for FeedMore WNY through Check Out Hunger campaigns

FeedMore WNY is able to provide more nutritious food to its Western New York neighbors in need thanks to support from area retailers and the community. Check Out Hunger campaigns at Dash’s Market, Lexington Cooperative Markets, The Market in the Square, Tops Friendly Markets and Wegmans Food Markets raised a total of $780,323 to help FeedMore WNY continue to respond to the ongoing need for food assistance in the community as a result of the pandemic.

‘Spread the Love’ food drives seek peanut butter donations for FeedMore WNY

In order to help FeedMore WNY replenish its depleted supply of donated food, the nonprofit’s Board of Directors and Community Ambassador Council are encouraging the community to support their upcoming Spread the Love peanut butter drives. The food drives will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 and Saturday, June 5 at various locations throughout FeedMore WNY’s service area of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.
