Personal Care Pantry serves students, graduates of RISE workforce program

FeedMore WNY’s free workforce development program, Readying Individuals for Success and Employment (RISE) welcomes people facing high barriers to employment and empowers them with the skills needed to thrive in a career in warehousing and logistics.

One of the keys to the success of the RISE program is the wraparound services offered, including nutritious food access, transportation assistance, and childcare. Recently, FeedMore WNY team members also determined the need for a Personal Care Pantry to offer to RISE students and graduates.

Thanks to a $20,000 grant from Five Star Bank, FeedMore WNY was able to launch and sustain the RISE Personal Care Pantry, which is stocked with shampoo, soap, dental hygiene products, laundry detergent and other personal care items.

“It’s important to have these products available to students because a lot of students, unfortunately, don’t have access to these products,” SayVette Brice, RISE Instructor, said.

“The Personal Care Pantry and the RISE Program helps students to continue to build confidence and be on a journey to better themselves. Once you feel better, you have increased confidence about yourself.”
