Good Friends and Good Food at the Clarence Senior Center
It’s often the highlight of Ruth’s day to enjoy a delicious lunch with friends at the Clarence Senior Center. “It’s nice,” she says. “I come five days a week.”
At 93, it’s important to Ruth to stay active, remain involved in her community and eat healthy. That’s why she looks forward to the nutritious meals served every weekday at the Clarence Senior Center, a partner agency of FeedMore WNY.
For over two decades, Ruth volunteered to deliver meals to older adults who are homebound, and she witnessed firsthand the impact a good meal can have for an older adult. Food is nourishing, but it also has the special power to connect us when we share it together.
Ruth takes every chance she can to eat lunch with her senior center community, enjoying conversation, laughter and, of course, delicious meals.
“It’s a wonderful thing,” Ruth says. “We’re grateful!”
The nourishing lunches fuel all of Ruth’s activities from picnics to park visits, sharing movies and more. But the greatest impact, Ruth says, is the relationships she’s formed at the Clarence Senior Center.
“It’s just nice to have other people that you can laugh and joke with,” she says. A caring community, a healthy routine and reliable meals make life full for Ruth!
