Fowler’s Chocolates and FeedMore WNY partner to fight hunger

In recognition of the 10th Anniversary of Sponge Candy Day this September, Fowler’s Chocolates – known as the original maker of Sponge Candy – has teamed up with FeedMore WNY to give back throughout the month with a food drive and fundraising opportunity.

Throughout September, for every pound of their signature sponge candy sold in stores or online, Fowler’s Chocolates will donate $1 to FeedMore WNY to support their mission of alleviating food insecurity throughout the region. In addition, anyone who donates a nonperishable food item to Fowler’s Cheektowaga location at 2563 Union Road during the month will save 10 percent on any in-store purchase.

Fowler’s Chocolates will be launching new products and a contest building up to Sponge Candy Day on September 21.

“We’re excited to partner with FeedMore WNY in helping them meet their mission of alleviating hunger in our community while also celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sponge Candy Day. We share a strong commitment to Western New York and are proud to stand alongside them. As FeedMore WNY builds their new campus to expand their impact, we look forward to continuing this partnership and supporting the community we all call home.” September is also Hunger Action Month, a national campaign spearheaded by the Feeding America network (of which FeedMore WNY is a member) to spread awareness on the prevalence of food insecurity and mobilize community members to take action to alleviate hunger.

“Fowler’s Chocolates is a longtime supporter of FeedMore WNY’s mission of providing dignity, hope and brighter futures to Western New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity,” Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY, said. “We are grateful to Fowler’s Chocolates for continuing its annual tradition of supporting our hungry community members during their Sponge Candy Day celebrations. This collaboration is also a truly ‘sweet’ way to raise needed food, funds and awareness for FeedMore during Hunger Action Month. While Fowler’s sponge candy has become a symbol of Western New York, their support for our organization is also a symbol of why this is a community of good neighbors.”
