FeedMore WNY partnership with sasi helps community

FeedMore WNY knows our volunteers are heroes, providing nutritious food and friendship to our neighbors in need.

Yet, sometimes our home-delivered meal volunteers offer even more than a meal and a friendly greeting. Sometimes, they even save lives.

Recently, one of FeedMore WNY’s home-delivered meal recipients received the help and medical attention she needed thanks to our dedicated volunteers from sasi, a nonprofit providing creative opportunities and supports for people with disabilities and special needs.

A group of volunteers from the sasi Angola Day Hab program was delivering meals when they encountered a neighbor who wasn’t answering her door.

After hearing the neighbor’s cries for help from inside her house, the volunteers called 911 and stayed with the neighbor until paramedics arrived.

FeedMore WNY is grateful for our partnership with sasi.

Not only does sasi take on multiple home-delivered meal routes several times each week, but you can often find sasi volunteers sorting and packing food donations in our warehouse.
