Centering Health at the Food Farmacy
Walk into FeedMore WNY’s Food Farmacy at Sisters Health Center at D’Youville University, and you’ll be greeted by the sight of shelves full of wholesome foods like whole grains, fresh produce and nutrient-dense proteins.
The foods stocked here aren’t just helping to fight hunger. The Food Farmacy also drives positive health outcomes using the power of nutrition.
Food and health go hand-in-hand. Hunger can cause adverse health effects, but the opposite is also true. Nourishing food can help our neighbors maintain, and even improve, their health.
This innovative partnership between FeedMore WNY and Sisters Health Center sits right at the intersection of hunger and health.
Anyone from the community is welcome to participate in the Food Farmacy. After registering, visitors work with a FeedMore dietician to identify health goals, learn about proper nutrition and how to put the power of healthy food to use.
Along with personalized nutrition counseling, participants benefit from no-cost food access through the Farmacy, healthy cooking demonstrations and other nutrition education services.
Investment in the health of our neighbors is an investment in our entire community. The Food Farmacy creates a healthier, stronger West Side community, one neighbor at a time.
