A Great Place to Eat and Fill Your Soul!

Grady has been volunteering at Plate of Love Ministry, a FeedMore WNY partner agency at Cold Springs Community Center, for so long that he’s forgotten when he started.

“It’s been at least ten years,” he says, laughing.

Initially, Grady came to Plate of Love looking for a meal himself. He felt a calling to help out, and followed it.

Now, every Wednesday and Saturday when Plate of Love is open, Grady is there, guiding guests and filling bags with nourishing meals. He explains his role is “to talk to everybody, and put everything in the bag.”

Grady’s favorite part about volunteering is seeing the consistent quality of food served. Nutritious meals include good sources of proteins, fresh produce and healthy grains.

Plus, Plate of Love provides bags of food community members can bring home with items from FeedMore that are more shelf stable. In Grady’s own words, Plate of Love is “a great place to eat, for free!”

In the time since Grady started volunteering, he’s seen the impact of the meal site grow exponentially. “(It’s gotten) bigger and bigger and bigger,” he says. He encourages you to join him as a volunteer: “if you really want to make a difference, this is the place to make a difference at.”
