A Full Table for Ari’s Family
Hunger relief isn’t just about filling as many plates as possible. It’s about ensuring nourishing, wholesome, culturally relevant food is available for neighbors like Ari.
In a time of unimagined trial, Ari and his family of five found support at Buffalo Peace House, a FeedMore WNY partner agency and shelter. There, they found a safer, more stable place to call home. They had traveled from Afghanistan to Iran to seek asylum in the US.
Since receiving his green card, Ari started working at Walmart. He is also learning to code so that one day he can pursue his dream of working in cybersecurity.
“I want to go back to school, keep studying,” he shares.
They use the ingredients they receive from FeedMore to make meals that are nourishing, comforting and culturally appropriate — like Ghormeh Sabzi, a lamb dish.
Ari and his family have now all received green cards and are looking forward to rebuilding a safe life here in America!
