Erie County Fair collects record number of canned goods for FeedMore WNY to celebrate 2022 opening day!

Posted: August 19, 2022

The weight is in, and there is a new record at the Erie County Fair.

Fair-goers were encouraged to bring four canned goods on the opening day of the 2022 Erie County Fair for free admission, and the total amount collected during that one-day food drive is a new record for the Erie County Fair. The total weight of all the food collected came to 96,555 lbs. Not only did it break the previous Fair record, but it more than doubled an average year.

“FeedMore WNY is beyond grateful to the Erie County Fair for hosting this year’s food drive and for the community’s incredible support,” said Tara A. Ellis, FeedMore WNY president and CEO. “Your generosity will make a profound difference in the lives of tens of thousands of Western New Yorkers living with food insecurity. Through our nearly 400 partner agencies, this food will provide more than 80,000 meals and an opportunity for a brighter future. Thank you for continuing to support our mission.”

If you plan to visit the Erie County Fair this weekend, you can find FeedMore WNY at the 97 Rock booth outside Slade Park. With a $5 donation to FeedMore WNY, you can spin the Santora’s Pizza Prize Wheel to win Santora’s gift cards.

Every purchase of a commemorative Buffalo T-Shirt or Beach Towel at Hamburg Gaming also benefits FeedMore WNY.
