the problem

FeedMore WNY is operating with insufficient space to meet the needs of the community.

The COVID-19 pandemic tripled the need for food assistance in the community and the number of people served today has already exceeded 10-year growth projections.

Due to the rapid increase of food insecurity among Western New York residents, current FeedMore WNY facilities are operating far beyond their capacity.

In 2022, FeedMore WNY provided nutritional assistance to 197,567 community members through our various programs and services.

This figure is more than the number of people served by the organization in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

the solution

To continue expanding food programs in Western New York, FeedMore WNY intends to build a new facility at 4832 Camp Road, Hamburg.

A centralized campus will include our main warehouse, commissary, growing spaces, office and meeting space, as well as primary logistics on one parcel.

Building a new FeedMore WNY facility will also:

Reach more underserved community members and increase the warehouse space and commercial kitchen capacity.

• Expand its workforce development program, RISE (Readying Individuals for Success and Employment).

• Add dedicated clean rooms to repack donated food and pet food for the AniMeals program, and provide space to expand feeding programs.

the details

The campus will be built on a 74-acre site at 4832 Camp Road, Hamburg.

The planned facility will encompass 197,700 square feet.  The overall project is estimated to cost $99.8 million.

Additionally, the site will be located within the geographic center of the nonprofit’s four-county operations.

The facility and campus are being designed by Trautman Associates – Architects/Engineers, an integrated architectural and engineering firm.

Buffalo Construction Consultants and Uniland Development Company are working in partnership with Trautman Associates.

the merger and increased services

Since the Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels for WNY merged to create FeedMore WNY in January 2020, the nonprofit has been operating out of multiple locations.

These sites include two primary facilities: corporate offices and meal services at 100 James E. Casey Drive, and offices and the main warehouse at 91 Holt St.

The merger led to organic growth through program expansion and the number of people served throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

From the new campus, FeedMore WNY will still provide direct deliver and customized food solutions through our Home Delivered Meal sites and Community Dining sites.

Additionally, the same services will still be provided to hundreds of community partners, and our warehouse in Falconer for distribution to Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
