Gianna and Dolphy

Niagara Falls is the only home Gianna has ever had or wanted. “All my life I’ve been here,” she says gladly. Niagara County is a key region for our hunger-relief efforts, and Gianna is one neighbor who relies on our support, especially after retiring.

Gianna worked various jobs in her career, including over 20 years at her neighborhood Walmart. Now, she spends her time caring for her beloved dog, Dolphy, and keeping up with her favorite sports teams.

Recently, Gianna celebrated a huge milestone — six years cancer free. Thankfully, she is in full remission, but she still deals with lasting health impacts like nerve damage and lymphedema.

Gianna’s health conditions often impact her day-to-day life, limiting her ability to drive and keep up with tasks. So when a volunteer from FeedMore WNY’s Home-Delivered Meals Program arrives, Gianna is glad to have one less thing to worry about.

“I love these wonderful meals because they’re healthy,” she says, adding that “every volunteer is so nice.”

A well-balanced diet is an important way that Gianna manages her health. The meals she receives from the Home-Delivered Meals Program are a key piece of this, ensuring that even when Gianna isn’t feeling up to leaving the house, she can still nourish her body.
