FeedMore WNY celebrates graduates of new RISE Culinary course

FeedMore WNY was thrilled to graduate the first students from its new RISE Culinary and Food Manufacturing course on June 10. The course is the newest offering under FeedMore WNY’s RISE workforce development program, which also offers a course and certifications for a career in warehousing and logistics.

RISE Culinary is a free 14-week course – including a two-week internship – offering adults hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen. Students earn certifications in ServSafe food handling, as well as their Certified Fundamentals Cook certification from the American Culinary Federation.

The RISE workforce development program is geared toward individuals with high barriers to employment. Both RISE courses offer life skills and job readiness training, including classes on financial literacy, resume writing and interview preparation. Students also have access to wraparound services, including free transportation, childcare assistance, daily meals and food pantry access.

Thanks to a partnership with Buffalo State University, RISE Culinary classes are held in the Dietetics Kitchen at Caudell Hall.

More information on the RISE program, including how to apply, can be found on our RISE page.
